GOOD NEWS: George Montague is 93 years old now, and last posted to his Twitter two days ago, so AFAIK he’s still alive.
Best of all, he’s written a book about his experiences being gay, which is called–you guessed it–The Oldest Gay in the Village.
Oh, and last year he married his long-term partner, Somchai Phukkhlai.
Lastly, he has a petition on Change.org asking for a formal apology from the British government for everyone they’ve convicted of “gross indecency” over the years, including George Montague himself. It was on the books and enforced from 1885 to 1967, and made consenting sex between two men a criminal offense.
