masculine isnt synonymous with abusive

masculine isnt synonymous with mysogyny

masculine isnt synonymous with insecurity

men and masculinity aren’t inherently bad or toxic

The notes are predictable

I see a lot of posts about “let men be feminine/soft/emotional!” posts, and while I definitely agree with that sentiment, it’s also good for men to be masculine. There shouldn’t be a fear about masculinity, and the hysteria around “watch out for toxic masculinity!” often turns quickly into “all masculinity is toxic”. Never any mention of traditionally feminine traits, in extremes, also being harmful. It just turns into “feminine = good, masculine = bad”. That’s how you decide if a trait is “feminine” or “masculine”, whether you like it or not.

Be whatever you want to be, whatever your gender. Feminine traits are as capable of being good as they are bad. Masculine traits are as capable of being good as they are bad.

Everyone has a bit of both. How much depends on the person. But if you’re more brave, strong and independent than you are gentle, tolerant and sensitive, then it doesn’t make you bad or toxic. Like all traits, it all depends on what you do with them.
