Does anyone know good workout outfits for trans men?
I want to exercise more and I’ll have gym access at college, but as always I worry about passing, especially in such an uncomfortable environment. Any advice or good brands/clothes to wear to exercise and still pass?
Since it is a bad idea to bind you are going to have to wear a sports bra. Obviously this will give you more chest than a binder will, the shirts that hide it the best and won’t be terrible to work out in are black/dark shirts with a large and detailed grafic on the front. A men’s shirt, because most women’s shirts will show curves. Also, if you can get one with a close collar it will help hide your bra straps or any cleavage.
You are going to want men’s gym shorts, women’s are tailored to show curves and are usually noticeably quite shorter. If you have larger thighs and want to hide them get basket ball shorts since they end at the knee and are straight legged. You’ll also want to pack. Even just a sock pack will be fine but in gym shorts bulges on men are much more noticeable, and at gyms you’ll be doing things like laying on a bench press, running, jumping, squatting. Quit a lot of positions so… Yeah, it’s best to pack.
Men’s shoes will also help. My dad’s a runner and I didn’t realize this but people really check out your shoes in work out settings. Men’s shoes really do help you pass and give them a clue as to what you are. Try to keep it to a typical men’s shoes with men’s colors such as white, red, and black. Also, men tend to wear longer socks with their shorts while excersizing. I don’t know why, but they do. It’s weird.
Other than that don’t wear jewlery, grow out your body hair, and use men’s deodorant/body wash. All together this will hit a lot of the red flags that will mark you off as female.
Hope this helps 😊
You’re a fucking gem, thank you so much!! This is super helpful!!
God bless this amazing advice. It gave me such a confidence boost to find out the long sock thing too tbh because I always wear my long socks with basket ball shorts.
