While I do think punk should be offensive, I think a lot of ‘punx’ take it the wrong way. That doesn’t mean just be a dick to queer kids and kids new to the scene and shit. It’s supposed to offend those in power. Those with control. Not the people who are fighting against those people. If your punk scene is straight white dudes throwing racial slurs and calling women sluts and calling each other faggots as a joke, it’s not a scene for me. If your ‘counterculture’ offers no alternative to the way we’re living already, then it’s just bullshit. That’s not rebellion, that’s not counterculture, that’s just angry dudes with bad hair whining and breaking shit in the name of what they think is going against the grain, but it’s really the same shit our culture’s been supporting since day one. The same thinly veiled elitism, sexism, homophobia, racism, all of it. Fuck the punx
