I feel like most people on tumblr have no idea how petitioning and calling their representatives actually works. Like just because you get 200k signatures on a petition doesn’t mean the government has to listen. And using a script to call your representatives? They ignore that shit. Sure you can say “I don’t support this” and hang up the phone, but you have to tell them /why/ and how it will personally effect you. Otherwise, they won’t listen! Gettting 2000 voicemails a day that all say the say thing won’t even be listened to.

use your own words when calling if you actually want to make a difference. Otherwise you’re just wasting your own time, and everyone else’s.
