having an extremely expensive and elaborate skincare routine is definitely ridiculous but its also extremely close to alchemy in both execution (lots of chemicals and potions and shit) and goal (eternal youth)
also the classic alchemist and the standard skincare enthusiast share a personality profile: one who pursues something wholesome (health/knowledge) as a justification for vanity and hubris
