god i wish there was a platonic shipping culture as strong as romantic shipping culture

i want to be able to look up tags for platonic relationships and look up platonic fanvideos and know that’s what i’m gonna get. i want to be able to deeply appreciate the platonic bonds between characters without having to search ship tags, because sometimes that’s fine, but sometimes they’re romantic notps.

I wish that the useful convention of X/Y is shipping and X&Y is platonic hadn’t disappeared because god searching fanvideos has become a landmine. Do the kids not know??? do they not??? pleas don’t title shippy fanvids as X & Y it brings nothing but chaos

I want to be able to watch videos for pairings that feel like found siblings to me without a sudden recoil reflex when an undeniably romantic lyric shows up. I want in depth character metas about my favorite complicated friendships that don’t end with “and this is why they should kiss.” I want to have some tag, any tag to use for my favorite adult and child dynamics because I don’t want to get anywhere near those ship tags (whereas with same-age friendships sometimes i just resignedly do the search and then skim for the lowkey not-explicitly-romantic stuff that inevitably gets tagged as ship).

I just want platonic fandom to be as easy and fulfilling to navigate as shipping fandom is.
