I have just now for the first time in my life fixed myself some shitty microwave-in-the-bag frozen brussels sprouts and I suddenly understand why fucking everyone hates brussels sprouts, my god

Ppl talk a lot of shit abt steamed vegetables and I never understood it bc my father is very good at steaming veggies and like steamed fresh broc or brussels sprouts, cooked properly, are like genuinely good? But THESE… oh man. Simultaneously tough and squashy, bizarrely hard-to-chew globes of soggy plant matter… this is genuinely inedible. It’s worse than boiled spinach, and boiled spinach is foul. God in heaven. I’m having a really dreadful epiphany and I don’t like it, no siree Bob. Do ppl really EAT this stuff?? This is.. I’m appalled. Forcing a child to eat this would be nothing short of cruel. Sweet baby Jesus everything makes sense all of a sudden, god, my apologies to everyone whose parents made them eat this stuff, I trivialized your suffering for so many years.. I never knew… good god I am so sorry……

@theomenroom ok I’ll try it, I don’t wanna throw away a whole bag of brussels sprouts… My apology still stands tho, like Jesus Christ lol

UPDATE I have tried this and my brussels sprouts are now edible. They were in the microwave too long so the texture isn’t really salvageable, but sauteeing them got a fair amount of the water out and the seasoning and olive oil helped a lot with the flavor. In the future I will juuust barely thaw my sprouts out in the microwave and then cut them up and hopefully roast them, or sautee them if I don’t want to wash my casserole dish. Thank you @theomenroom for rescuing these brussels sprouts from the trash can! My vitamin-starved cells are endlessly grateful
