Now this..I’m definitely gonna have to search my books. Luckily my best friend recently gave back my dog-eared copies of NOTW and WMF
- Kotes thrice locked chest: “aroma of citrus quenching iron” made of roah–dark as coal pg 15
- Mounting board: charcoal color (roah again, pg 25, doesn’t burn)–pg 23 “stink like old leather and clover”–when burnt.
- Cthaeth–pg 680–”strange sweet smell, like smoke and spice and leather and lemon”–compelled to put it in his mouth–doesn’t remark on the color
noticed that they said “you’d think a man with coal-black eyes would make an impression when he stops to buy a drink”–a man such as that was described when skarpi was telling his story--pg 684- Lackless box: pg 921, smooth polished stone, dark enough to be roah, but deep red grain “smelled almost like lemon”–maddeningly familiar (cthaeh??)
Couldn’t remember a time where null root was mentioned so I wasn’t able to look it up. This is very interesting
Nahlrout is what Kvothe uses to dull the pain before his lashings.
“I bought us cider at a nearby pub, using mine to wash down the nahlrout, trying not to grimace at the bitter, chalky taste.” pg 287
Master Arwyl knew Kvothe had taken it because he could smell it on his breath “His frown deepened as he moved closer to me, took holf of my chin with one hand, opened my mouth, and smelled it.”
He also checked Kvothe’s capillary reflex (blood flow to tissue). “Arwyl picked up one of my hands, pressed the tip of my fingernail firmly, and watched intently for a second or two.” pg 293
It acts as both a painkiller and blood vessel constrictor (why he didn’t bleed).
Thought you’d be interested bc youre in the medical field right?(pg numbers are from the 10th anniversary edition bc thats the only physical copy i have)
