Question to everyone who claims that hate speech is “free speech” and should be allowed, but also that they’re against “real” hate crimes:

Can you name one single group (a workplace, a political party, a website, an entire culture…) where hate speech and harassment was permitted because “FREEZE PEACH”, that did NOT quickly became overrun by bigotry, with said bigotry getting more present and more aggressive?

Also, I have to add: I don’t want any mention of “But what if banning hate speech will lead to a 1984-thoughtpolice scenario?”, for two reasons.
One: it doesn’t answer my question.

And two: there’s lots of institutions, from workplaces to entire states such as Germany, where hate speech is limited, and they did NOT turn into 1984-like dystopias. So, no, limiting hate speech does not automatically lead to all free speech being outlawed.
